The Jason Bourne Mafia Game

Update:

Prestige7 received a fatal wound in a kill attempt last night and was killed by his target.

Prestige7 is now dead, he was Luther Lavalle, Mafia.

If someone thinks they were responsible should step forward and claim. Mafia team already knows who the target was, so withholding that information from the town serves no purpose.

Several news channels broke varied stories of multiple instances of gunfire exchanges across the city in the late hours of the night, particularly at 415 E. 71st Street and at 60 Lafayette Street. However, it seems that even though hits were scored, no death occurred.

Night 2 has ended, there have been no kills.

It is now Day 3 and all may post freely.

Time to end of D3
This appears to show two separate NK attempts. That could mean a third scum party or something else.

Before reading that Prestige died, I was thinking that someone got seriously injured and was probably going to be maimed for the day (can't vote, can't talk, some other game mechanic). I came up with that conclusion from the underlined and italicsized I did.

In awesome news, we got a Scum! Woohoo! /jig I'm a little surprised I thought he was Townie. Like, half of his posts didn't make sense, lol!! Thought he was the VI or something.

Or someone was defending themselves?

This is all going to be stream of consciousness of my take on each player. None of them are simple mafia-not mafia. Just my observations without letting myself do too much thinking. NOTE - The people I had the strongest feelings about (plus or minus) ended up at the top of this. This is stream of consciousness NOT a declaration of facts. This will help me more than anyone else going forward. As always, at least one of the remaining mafia will be playing it low and no-risk (assuming there are 3 which is NOT a guarantee in what Silver hinted would be a power-role crazy game).

D2DC
After a reread last night, I would have bet money that D2DC was mafia. He caved in to pressure from Drixx and Zemaj and was happy to place a vote for me even though he clearly understood the (are you mafia) question to be of no value regardless of how it is answered. I'm sorry, if you think you can pick a mafia with all the varied personality types in these games, especially those of us who forcibly change our approach randomly each game based off how someone answers "are you mafia?" you're kidding yourself***. Almost all of us vote emotionally based off of preference when conflict happens and its only interesting if you read into the results in that light. You see it time and time again. I don't know if any of you have reread the entire mafia backlog on this site for stuff like this, but I have. How people react to conflict is far more interesting than the conflict itself in almost all cases.

Yet, he was convinced without any serious pressure (deflecting - as if any of us would make that mistake) to place his vote on me and leave it there as long as they liked. Conciliatory behavior is always my number one tag for suspicion unless the player is predisposed for it.

In his favor - he did finger Prestiege in his suspected scum list. He put him first on his list, which tells me either he is mafia and smart, or he really is town and thought Prestiege was scum and just happens to be a conciliatory player (or he just was for that moment, etc..).

***I get angry in every game, so that part of me is always on regardless of how I'm sided. How people react to conflict is more interesting than the conflict most of the time.

Drixx
I found the question annoying, I found the pretense that anything could be gained by how an experienced player answered that question to be farcical, and the fact that others payed it lip service worrying. HOWEVER. A great deal of that was exacerbated by my general constant grumpiness and my hangriness after moving my daughter home. Lots of mafia players like to work with a certain flow and I can respect that. I'll probably always take the opportunity to make fun of those kinds of questions, BUT...

Maybe I'm biasing this on the way I play and my interpretation of what Drixx is like, but I am not nearly as suspicious of him as I am of others. His reciprocal irritation felt genuine and his capitulation on the pressure once I played nice seemed genuine. I could be totally wrong on this. But, gun-to-my-head he's not really on my radar.

Caluin Graye
Blandy Mc Blanderson - on my radar. He's been kind of ... there. I will be re-reading this and I expect - like always - to find that I'm wrong about this in part. CG isn't a flamethrower like some of us (thank God).

Zemaj
Really, really pressed the interference angle and got D2DC to buy in. I don't have anything else here. He posted some walls that I don't have time to go through at work. Threat level medium.

Kestegs
I didn't get an impression based on memory. I will do another post when I get home from work.

Leo
Nothing yet. She followed my irritable vote, which sometimes people do. Follow up after re-read. Leo's posting style can really work more than people think when she's a baddie, but I have nothing.

Thingyman
Hmmm... I want to be fair since he didn't get his notice and there's not much to work with yet. I think there's something about his name that tickles something in my head that makes me guess mafia on him instinctively which is stupid. No read.

Summary
It looks like I have both barrels gunning for D2DC. He is on the less than neutral side of the spectrum for me. But, this is just my memory dump. And as always, at least one more mafia will be found amongst the skaters.

Also, I've gotten some sleep so I'm ready to work on this.

Just because it was multiple shots, that doesn't neccessarily mean scum.
That is true. There are a lot of options, one being the same two people were involved just at multiple locations. Other ideas are that there is a scum team and a serial killer or vigilante.

I did a little research on the two addresses in the day flavor, and it seems they may or may not be the same? I don't know for sure, as I'm not familiar with the subject matter though.

It seems like the 415 E 71st is the fictitious location in the book, but 60 Lafayette is the real life location where the movie was filmed. But he said this was based on the books, so idk. Do we have some kind of inception nonsense going on here? lol.

On further review the D1 story is reminiscent of an early scene in one of the books.

No idea if any of this is helpful or not, so waste your time at your own risk.

I do know what I did. I lie detected Zarniwoop's very clear statement of alignment. It came back as truth.

So Kestegs ... you are softing something unlikely.

@Zarniwoop I will respond more later today. But briefly, my vote wasnt "caving". I had Prestige and Kestegs as my two strongest scum reads, and you were kinda neutral. Then the whole Drixx beef perked up my ears. That was the most suspicious behavior I have seen so far. For me, Drixx is either 100% scum, or 100% town. His veracity left no middle ground. You on the other hand were/are more muddled for me. So, it made sense to me to target you, and whatever you flipped, it would "confirm" Drixx as town/mafia. I would have happily voted Prestige or Kegs, but I could see that we were never going to get majority.

@The Silver Shroud

Can we get clarification on that, was that another casualty of you posting from phone, or is it properly reported?

He's properly dead as a doornail.

As in, should it have been part of Start-of-Day post and got left out, or is properly placed. Under the circumstances, I think the clarification is needed.

Its properly placed.

He received a fatal would and later died from it.

Thank you.

More on this after work...

This was my bait. I went ahead and soft-set the possibility of multiple anti-town factions or a SK. The idea being that townies typically don't care about those particulars... anti-town is anti-town... if you are town. Who cares about multiple anti-town factions? Scum. They cannot win if there is another mafia/SK.

So left it there, and see who bites... and who was that? Why it was none other than my top suspect from yesterday: kestegs.

This appears to show two separate NK attempts. That could mean a third scum party or something else.

And just now quoting, I realize he slipped otherwise. He said THIRD. So he already knows of two. Did anyone in this thread discover a SECOND anti-town for this to be a THIRD? Not that I've seen.

Vote: kestegs

Leo makes my short list for, can we guess? Running interference!

Trying to mitigate your buddies slip?

D2DC also has made it in third. Overly helpful guy is usually up to something.

CG is not making waves, or asking pointed questions... trying to play nice for... why?

Drixx and Zarni seem most likely to be town, from where I'm at, ftb.

Thingy gets null... I have to have something to work with. So... direct question: what do you think of my case against kestegs?

I will disagree that the town doesn't care about separate scum factions. It is very important to know if all the scum are on the same team or not when you are analyzing voting and associations.

You are taking my "third" out of context. It means a third faction. Aka Town, Mafia, and a third something. Pretty obvious to see from my post if you wanted to see it.

Oh wow, it just got interesting in here.
