The Russia-Ukraine Situation

They are not in NATO. So there was no need to invade.

So if a guy comes at you with a knife, you wait until he has stabbed you before you react then.
Cause he hadn't stabbed you yet, so it's no need to do anything.

I certainly wouldn't stab him in advance of him doing anything because then I would be up for attempted murder or indeed murder if the knife wielder died. That's the way the law would work.

I dunno, you have a pretty weird assessment of the whole situation, a lot of it you see all over social media. It's pretty clear cut to me, invade a country on speculation or ambitions, then expect to be repelled by said country. Nobody in the EU or US wants any slice of Russia so if it feels threatened by a potential NATO invasion, then that's Russia's problem and insecurities. Just sad that some people can't see it that way.

And I think you have a weird and wrong assessment, alot of it you see all over social media :D

I dont see how you dont see how Russia sees Nato/USA as a threat. USA/Nato has invaded country after country, staged coups everywhere, moving closer and closer to Russia through expansions. If you were Russia, how dont you see this as very aggressive towards you? Just sad that people cant see it that way.

Because there is ZERO indication that NATO has any interest in Russian territory. Plus it's a defensive bloc...

"NATO is a defensive alliance whose members are committed to safeguarding the freedom and security of all Allies, against all threats, from all directions. Deterrence and defence is one of NATO’s core tasks. The Alliance deters aggression by maintaining a credible deterrence and defence posture based on an appropriate mix of nuclear, conventional and missile defence capabilities, complemented by space and cyber capabilities. Allies are significantly strengthening the deterrence and defence of the Alliance as the backbone to their Article 5 commitment to defending each other."

The key phrase here is "defending each other".

Actions taken independently by the US are the business of the US, and yes, they do meddle in other countries affairs and that has been going on for a long time. Same applies to Russians with for example the Salisbury poisonings, interference in political activities (Brexit as an example). Russian bot farms on social media. They are all at it.

Well if you are gonna claim Nato is a defensive bloc, I will claim there are no Russian troops in Ukraine.
It is what it is. Perhaps you confuse NATO with actions by individual nations, mainly the US.

Pointless conversation anyway, with any luck Putin will crawl back into his hole, gain a small bit of Ukraine he invaded, continue to hold fake elections, and the subjugation of his people, and the rest of the world can all move on.

I agree, it is kinda pointless. We disagree on key events like the coup in 2014, the arming of Azov, C14, Right Sector and other nazis in Ukraine, breaking the Minsk-agreements, nato-expansions and aggression.
So all of our arguments and reasonings will be based on that.

Whether it's a "coup" is certainly debatable. One side wants closer EU ties, the other (pro-Russia) does not. That's up to the people to decide their own destiny at the ballot box. At least that's how it works in a true democracy. The Wikipedia page really does outline events well.

Anyway. Enough of this gibber jabber :)

Im sorry, but that article is a load of crap. No wonder ppl think the way they do if they go by articles like that.

To be honest, I think that you are full of crap regarding this, Krem. I'm pretty much tired of holding me back.
