The Noodle Compound V. 2.0

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Today I'm relatively free since I only have 2 classes. Tomorrow however, I won't be finished 'til 7 PM. We'll see though; it's still the beginning of the quarter, so there's no exam panics yet.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Well, my chemistry exam is on the 10th, which is also when the exams are due, so I'm doing the assignments, reading the textbook and reviewing the notes to prepare.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Ahhh...massive studying for you then eh?

I'm planning to do some of that myself. Don't want to get behind; I have some tough classes this quarter.

Wow, amazon is really extremely expensive for "imports", I just didn't notice it as so extreme before. There is a m-flo CD I want to get the next time I got to San Francisco Japantown (probably sometime within the next 5 months, maybe in June/July before the picnic), so I went on a search to see the approximate price of the CD (I figured around the $40 USD range). I started out with amazon and it was $83.98 USD for a new CD/DVD (ouch >_<). Then I went to the m-flo offical site and of course there was an ad about the CD and it posted the price at ¥3,059 for the CD and ¥3,990 for the CD/DVD, rounding out to some where in the $30-$40 USD range for the CD and around $40-$50 USD range for the CD/DVD. Thus, good thing there are Japantowns around here ^^.

My last exam is on the 21st, so I get to go home on the 22nd.

Is that as in this month in April? And does that mark the start of summer or just a little break from classes?

Have you run any Heroics yet?
No, I gave up trying to do things like that. Part of why I left the guild I was in.

That's awesome, not much longer then. Alberta's not too far from home for me either.

But they're all in California! That's like, 1.8K miles in the other direction.

Edit: Actually, it would be more than that. I think Jake and Tri both live further south then were I was stationed at.

But it's like, vertically across the country!
You gonna come visit me? :p Bring Gary, Tri, Karen and Jake.

There is about an eight hour road trip in there (in terms of distance that is).

So, how long (approximately) would that take driving (just out of curiousity)?

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Well I guess if you average say, 100mph or something, which I guess is absolutely ridiculous for "cruising speeds", but would be funny, and just easier to work with round numbers like that.
It'll take 18 hours.

Umm, average speed would be ~80mph for the most part. Trip between work and home was roughly 1.8k miles, and I gave myself a day and a half to drive it, which included four or five hours of sleep that night.

But if you go through towns or over bridges then you might not want to go that quickly :scared:.

Also, wouldn't that mean we would need to bring gifts since that's what usually happens when visiting people?

*happens to look at the other side of the room*
Oh, I already have some random (somewhat anime related) trinket sort of stuff ^^.

That is so much driving, I could never do that >_<.

But I love to drive! Once I was able to, I drove home every chance I got instead of taking a plane or bus (never again on this living Earth will I take a bus...). :jig:

Personally, I don't really enjoy driving, planes aren't really fun either, and when it comes to buses let's just say that trying to pack too many high school kids on a bus home at one time is so not fun and when it's hot out is even worse :scared:. So, bike FTW ^^.

You're going to ride a bike 1.8k miles? And try exchanging those high school kids for one four year old girl on a two day bus ride near Christmas time (read: snow/ice/cold/grumpy holiday travelers/etc), and see if we come out even. :badteeth:

No way am I ever going to attempt such a trip, especially on a bike.

With that kind of bus ride, I cannot compare, but the bus rides I was mentioning were like for the whole year. After a month or so of it I got lucky because my bro happened to buy a house and it was just several blocks away so I would just walk there and then spend several hours there until I got a ride home. That's actually how I got him into anime and such more because I would go onto his computer and fill it with tons of AMVs and some animes that I couldn't get, aren't I a great help ^^. Actually, I think that was back when we played a bunch of GW too, multiple computers FTW :prop:!

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

I think I can safely say I've traveled 80% of total traveldistance by bike in my life. I don't mind the bus either since I can travel free with it (same with train). But it's only natural to cover the distances you talk about by either car or plane.
