The Noodle Compound V. 2.0

It's another game we once played in the old OTF. It was first introduced by Tarnok on the old forums. A group of players were each given the name of another player to assassinate in a thread in the OTF or another designated sub forum or thread.

There was a Forum Assassin Discussion thread where you could talk in safety with the other players, describe your target in cryptic ways, e.g., my target (Noodle), is feeling green today, might have proof of insurance, etc. There was a dead thread and a kill attempt reporting thread. These were no attack "Holy Ground" threads where kill attempts were not allowed. There were also other holy ground designated threafs like The Noodle Compound 2.0 and Off Topic in the OTF and The Pal Forum.

The general flow of the game went as such:

There were two ways to kill your target, either by direct quote immediately after your target and adding the phrase "In the end there can be only one!" Without any person posting between your kill attempt and the post you quoted.

In the alternative you could post a thread on some subject, clever hide the phrase "booby trap" (whole complete word at once) in the first post, and if your target posted in that thread, they were died instantly.

If your kill attempt failed by the first method because someone posted between your post and the quote, your target then could in turn also hunt and try to kill you.

If a target found out exactly who their assassin was, they could then hunt and try to kill the assassin in turn.

If you successfully killed your target, you were assigned a new target and the game kept going until one person came out on top.

There was a requirement of having to make a specific number of non holy ground posts to be considered "active." It got to the point where people were making alliances with non playing forumers for protection. (I post, someone not playing posts right after me so I cant be directly quoted) games had 20 people playing and it got crazy tense trying to post and not get caught. People were purposely getting up at 345 am just to post, hoping that their potential assassin was sleeping.

Some people were feared to go up against, like me for example. There were a few that drew me as a kill target and were like ..oh shit I'm going to end up dead before I kill him.

Then there was @Cattleya

She was known to literally stay up all night with her finger on the post button, just waiting to put a figurative kill stroke through someone.

Game got so disruptive that it derailed other threads and turned into a mad mob of sword wielding maniacs trying to tear each other apart in the OTF

This was back in the @Dredd days and possibly before Doc was mod. I think Freet was still around too or had just stepped down. @Leopold Stotch might have been here then. I don't remember.

I'll look on the old boards tomorrow and see if I can find some of the old games.

Exactly like you did, except you just tried to kill me in a holy ground thread and failed. My attempt on you means nothing for the same reason. So once one of us posts outside here, its game on.

But....

You.

Have.

No idea.

When or where I will post again

Assassin games died off years before Freet left. Actually, while I recall being around while it was all the rage, I think the game was phasing out by the time I joined you as Community co-mod. For the record,

I loathed that game with ever fiber of my rotten being! You couldn't read one damn post that wasn't filled with variations of "booby trap" (not the fun boobies either) and "poison dagger". There also was the constant annoyance of being asked to cover someone's vulnerable post without even being offered some good porn inspirational bible quotes as compensation!

The one time I played I either ganked myself or was modkilled for not meeting my posting quota... I had no idea how to actually play the game; I was just trying to be a good sport for once!

Also, @Cattleya is a monster! If she plays you might as well jump off a bridge and end your suffering. On the other hand, she'd probably be waiting for you at the bottom, dagger ready.
