The Noodle Compound V. 2.0

I dreamed about working in a lab and needing to check false teeth with capsules if they contained cyanide, I also remember -1,734 what ever that means.

If its manic be a maniac, works wonders.

I heard the new songs but Tarja is still better then the new singer they got now, I still like their music its just different and I'll listen more to the old songs then to the new songs.

Ohh Nightwish! Now that's a band I've listened to a lot!

Got to agree with kamap sort of. I prefered Tarja, but mostly due to nostalgia I guess, as for my Nighwish has always been the band with Oprah inspired vocalist. Some of the older songs they did with Anette didn't sound right at all, and was almost downright terrible, just because Anette's voice didn't fit at all imo. However when new songs were being released, I felt they were made to fit better with Anette's voice, and so it was a big improvement.

With all that said, it's been quite a while since I last looked into what's been going on with Nightwish, and trying to google Anette's name, I found out she has been fired as well. That does suck a lot, as it took quite some time for Nightwish to recover, and to release some good songs after Tarja was fired.

Guess it's time to read up on some Nightwish news again. >_>

Like korial says, its the voice, annette's voice got drowned out by the music, while tarja's voice didn't.
Floor (the new lead singer) has a better voice then anette's but again tarja's voice was better.
Some of it is nostalgia probably but most of it is just that tarja's voice carried a whole lot and she could do much with it, while the new singers don't bring the same, feel / power / depth with their voices.

I have to disagree with you on Anette's voice being drowned out. While it didn't fit the older songs written with Tarja, it wasn't really drowned out either. Well some exceptions. One being if she tried to do reach the high notes Tarja did, and on the rare occasion (1 or 2 newer songs) where it felt like her voice was drowned out intentionally. Apart from that the new songs seemed to fit Anette's voice a lot better, and it felt... well maybe not powerful, but still quite strong. The songs were made to fit her a lot better.

I don't think I've heard a single thing Nightwish has done with the new vocalist. Definitely need to check that out.

Yeah let me clarify, when anette sang the old songs, her voice was drowned out, you knew what she was going to say but it took real effort to really understand it.
The new songs that where written with her voice in mind where a whole lot better.
Then go and listen now!

Yep then I agree, but tbh I don't think it's fair to judge Anette based on her performance of the old songs. I doubt many vocalists today could do those songs justice, even more so if they have no previous Oprah experience.

I'll be checking out some songs with Floor in 'em. Quickly searched on youtube, and the first few songs I found was from Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum (I think?), so it doesn't look like any new songs have been released with Floor yet. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :p

Speaking of Imaginaerum, was the musical they were making ever released? I remember they released a song that was going to be used in that movie, along with some early shots of it, and I remember thinking it looked and sounded freaking fantastic!

O_O

*mind blown*

Figured I'd fire up Ghost Love Score with Floor, and it was simply amazing!!! Glad I did, since Storytime felt rather lackluster, but it might've just been an issue with the uploaded song, as it felt really bland. Now I seriously can't wait for the new album!!! :jig:

She is pretty good, no? Compared to anette.

I agree that you can't judge anette from the old songs, its just a pitty they did the old songs with a new vocalist, just let the old songs be the old songs and make new ones.

Indeed she is pretty good. I thought Anette was really good as well, but she didn't quite fit with how I view Nightwish as a band. The songs were good, but I was definitely missing Tarja, and it feels like Floor is able to bring some of that back.

Heck she can probably pull off a couple of the songs from back then, which is incredibly impressive!

Floor's pretty good - I remember her from old After Forever. Last time I heard her was on Star One. Problem is lately I can't be arsed to get listen to much new music, it just doesn't do it for me anymore. Not sure why that is. Maybe because it's too much work.
