[Game Thread] Narcos Mafia Game reboot - Medellín vs Cali Cartel

That's the beauty of generic guard reveals, you just don't know.

Imaging the horror on our faces when it's revealed we've been killing off our own teammates.

Or if my best friend jn these mafia games turns out to be part of the other cartel.
Like two brothers caught on the opposite sides of a civil war..

Fun fact about life: when you are in a situation that requires amazing hilarity, you can only get inspiration for the perfect comeback after many hours have passed.

L'esprit de l'escalier

Do we even know that Pyro was a member of the other cartel, medillin?
Or however you spell it
We don't. We only know what @Zhao_Yue said were his motivations. His stated goal failed, but he may have even worse and killed someone in his own cartel.

lol, I get it. wp with the foreshadowing.

Might as well get all your playful jabs in while you can.
I might be playing a bit too playful atm.
I'm really enjoying this game, but I don't think the game setup is the right for how I approach these games.

I'm having a hard time being more analytical with this one.

During the signups for this game, I was talking to D2DC about it's details. Paraphrasing in our PM thread:

"Leave you silly ideas of logic and reasoning at the door; randomness rules the day baby!

Also, Gorny you are allow to lurk but you have to keep your pants on this time."

I'm mostly looking forward to the reveal of who we have been murdering all this time!

After the game I'm definitely confronting coju so I can smack him over the head with this red herring. I'm already wearing the Flayn cosplay.

Really, nothing happened that whole day?

Congrats lurkers, you recruited it seems...or that failed NK thingy shut any move.

Anyway, the only thing we know is that there are two dead guards, out of the initial 6.

So we are left with 4 guards - probably one recruited by the DEA - two cartel leaders and one DEA.

We are getting closer to the 50% big shot (cartel leader or DEA).

Zhao seems to be a solid guard too imo, so considering the other ones, we hit the 50%.

Skjolde is playing some role with Zhao, not sure it means something - if it was a boss/guard relationship, it would be a gamble, or Skjolde has found info on Zhao to confirm it. Playing it openly is not really secure, hence that could be a random fun play with no real relationship.

Noodle doesn't play - ok two messages here or there and no vote. Yeepee... only valid reason is being a cartel leader. Or being Noodle. Make your choice...

d2lover is a contender to being the DEA for reasons already stated.

Leopold could be a cartel leader too, but I do admit that it is based upon my initial reading about the low participation.

Well...I'll add some later, I have to put my kid to bed.

Later all!

If I was DEA you would be too by now, at least on my payroll :p

Alright so something is buggin' me about this kill and the name reveal of Zhao as the killer.

We know that D2DC is mostly following the wiki thread associated with these open setup. In that setup both Heirs (bosses) has ONE kill. If both bosses are alive, the kill must be made in the thread for all to see who does it. If the one boss is dead, it can instead be done by PM and thereby anonymously.

You are Heir Alpha. You win the game if you are alive, Heir Beta is dead, and the Anarchist is dead. You have a 1-shot kill you may use at any time. If the other Heir is still alive, then this kill must be done in thread by posting Kill: X. If Heir Beta is dead then you may PM the mod this kill. Use your vote to figure out who is on your side and weed out the rest.

In this game Zhao says that he briefly had the ability to kill, maybe a trigger or maybe just an excuse, maybe he had the ability the whole time?
Yeah, I briefly had the ability to kill but the drawback was I would be identified at the scene. I thought exposing my minor role for killing boss Pyro was a good move .. until he turned up regular guard. It was a wasted effort.
And even though he could do this kill through PM, the downside was that his name would be revealed, much like in the wiki description of the Heir.
Maybe Zhao is the boss and since it was night time he had to PM D2DC, but his name would still be revealed come the next day?
Or d2dc just changed the rules so the kills must be PM'ed but could be subject to the name of the killer be revealed? We have already seen that he really only mostly followed the wiki description of the open setup.

It is also possible that Zhao is a sicario with a 1-shot kill triggered ability. But I don't believe that D2DC would remove the 1-shot kill ability that the heirs (bosses) have, that would make them too weak. So what is it? Does each cartel have a sicario with a 1-shot triggered ability AND a boss which also have a 1-shot kill ability?
Or maybe each cartel have one kill ability and that is that belonging to the boss, making Zhao the cartel boss?

Give me your thoughts. This is not an all out accusation, but close to being it, I'll admit.

I was hoping that @Noodle might drop some wisdom on us, but either he's tapped out or waiting for his power level to max out.

@Skjolde Given the phrasing of the news update ("I Assassinate Pyrotechnician"), it seems possible to me that while the cartel leaders have a kill power, they can only use it by delegating it to a sicario. The phrasing doesn't read as a boss to me. Bosses order hits, they don't usually make the hits themselves.

Omg I completely forgot about the wording, by that I mean I forgot it said "Assassinate".

But the point of the Heir/Boss kill ability is that is makes them vulnerable. It would be weird if the bosses could use their kill ability anonymously no matter the circumstances.
At least weird in the sense of how the wiki games are described and more importantly balanced.
