Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Zomg Lynn get a tabard :p

And theses are the Necrons.

I have a tabard in the bank, but both of her dresses look better without it. Although one of the vest type things she had a few days ago required her to wear the tabard, it was rather... revealing to say the least. :whistling:

And...finally patch! Patch, patch, patch! Mounts at level 30 (including paladin and warlock summons), and cost 35g - among other things. :jig:

I can't wait to get started with the druid again! But there is so much I need to do with my priest still.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

You were doing most of that leveling non rested, that's the sucky part. I got the last 10 marks and the HP I needed for my Lv. 40 Epic Bracers, now I can just level.

Anyways, going back to the question Evrae asked about the difference between 69 and 70, here's another tidbit:

While I said gear does not really get more or less expensive, after the low 60's you will be getting to the point where most or all of your gear is high end blues (equivalent of Hell uniques in DII) or Epic Purple. So what you are doing here is spending time upgrading your gear, either by doing PvP Arena matches for Honor marks that you trade for Epic PvP gear rewards -or- you are running level ranged 68 -70 instances then Heroics for badges in order to get your Epic Gear (T4/t5/t6, etc) The T's mean Tier, its like DII set but much better. I'll post a pic of someont in Epic gear later.

Then there's faction rep and profession leveling. If you want certain recipies for your chosen profession, or certain other items (weapons, armor, trinkets, etc) some are only gained from certain factions - and only after you have reached a certian reputation level with them. Time sink there.

Then there's crafted Epic stuff. Expensive as hell if you buy off the AH, and still (but a bit less) expensive if you have the mats and hire someone to make.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Apparently PvPing for S1 gear is easy as hell...

About time! Slowpoke. :azn: The most rested exp I had was the ~1 bar I had every time I logged in. The +10% exp gain from the Summer Festival's ribbon dance helped a bit too. It took about six weeks, I think.

I was talking with a friend last night, and he said I shouldn't really bother with regular instances anymore and start doing heroics for gear. But I don't think I'd be able to survive in one of those, even if I respecc'd to holy right now. I only have the keys for Hellfire and Coilfang at the moment.

Also need to look at the other site for a good disc/holy talent build.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

So I've heard.

On Gorefiend, I'm not advanced enough to PvP for any of the seasson gear. I will in time.

Another point on reputation and the like, most anything gained through faction rep or or a PvP reward is BoP (Bind on Pickup) so this prevents you from gaining rep with one character and buying something then sending it to someone else. Then post 60 there is Aldor Vs. Scryer. You have to pick one or the other to align with and each of those two factions offer different rewards. Depending on what class (and even more so your class spec) one is better than the other.

On gaining reputation oftentimes killing a specific enemy type will gain you a slight rep increase (usually 5 points) and you can gather certain items to turn in that will help raise your rep. Running certain insances in the post 60 range also yields a nice chunk of rep.

On the higher levels making money gets easier. Trash drops are worth gold when sold to vendors, and you have access to gathering professions that can help you raise money.

So what's expensive for a low level is not for a mid 20's level and what's expensive for a 20's level is not for a 40 - 60 leveled person. Same for 70. It's not that things get less expensive, you just become better able to afford things. Gold is key unlike in DII where it has little trade value.

Mounts cost money too, 100g at level 40(soon to be 30), 1000G at level 60.

1000G for your level 70 Flting mount, and 5000G for your level 70 Epic mount. Then there's faction mounts and rep ones.

So yeah save cash :p

One comment on Heroics - even though I never set foot in one yet. Things are much different than they are in the normal versions of those instances. You may also be undergeared for them. You should go to WowWiki and look up your class, they list several builds and the pros and cons for each. Next, look up your instances - you may need rep to get in (Heroic keys)

Best thing to do is not to jump blind into any heroic.

Go wo the armory first (WoWarmory.com) put in Qlu or whatever and look at your characters gear. When looking for upgrades, mouse over whatever you want to upgrade and go to the find an upgrde option. Once you settle on a specific item to go find, then put the item name into the wiki and find out you need to go.

So far from what I can tell, my best bet (outside of raiding and pvp) is to run Crypts, Steamvault, and Tempest Keep for upgrades at the moment. So far I've been to crypts twice, and neither run was finished. Didn't go so well either, the tank for each of them couldn't hold aggro and I was the one that died most. Which reminds me of something a friend once told me:

If the tank dies it's the healers fault, if the healer dies it's the tanks fault, and if the dps dies... well, it's their own damned fault. :azn:

Although for the most part they do their best to keep things off me so I can do what I'm there to do. Do you think I'd be able to run through those somewhat effectively if I stayed as disc for the moment? Some have said that it would be more difficult for the higher end ones, but I really have no idea where those particular ones stand on that scale.

I wanted to stay disc for a while to finish with some questing and such, as it's easy enough to play solo as disc for the most part. Thing is it would be a bit harder if I went holy and tried to quest still. Or I could go holy now and just do questing with Kim when she's online or a couple others I know that are finally getting to the mid-60s.

If I did that it would certainly make instancing easier. I was removed from one group simply because I was disc spec (he was like "oh, we need a healer" - /remove); I don't remember which instance it was for though, I just know I've never been to it.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Im not much good for Priest advice, having never played the class, and in this guild I don't know who is. Wowiki is a good bet at this point as well as asking in the Priest Forum over yonder. Catch with the tank dying, he also may not be specced full tank. I remember Priest guides talking about how to manae your mana during a fight and when to use mana potions. You should also browse Priest specific mods like Benecast. Yeah groups do that - it sucks.

You said you were 315 or something Enchanting now, that means you have some Enchants I could use for my Mage that I can't do yet. I'll be looking you up for +Stamina and Intellect stuff.

What do you have for 2H weapon, Bracers, Chest, Gloves, Cloak and boots that fit a Mage? - looking for Int, Stam and then Vit.

We have only four active priests besides myself, one of which I know for sure is shadow. Two I think are holy, or at least one may have gone disc; the last I'm not sure about. The two that have answered my questions so far have differing opinions about a good portion of it though.

I think I've done pretty good as far as managing mana/potions/etc, I just feel I could be doing better even as disc spec. I did browse some mods for priests when I first decided to make her my main, but didn't find anything that seemed even remotely helpful. I'm even considering trying a different type of action bar to make spell access a bit easier/not so spread out.

I think my enchanting is at ~350 now, might have enough mats to level it a bit more but haven't decided if I want to use it for that or try to make the mooncloth armor. Thing with the mooncloth armor, I just read that it may not even be worth trying to do as some of the items that drop in those instances mentioned above may be slightly better anyway.

Off the top of my head that may be useful:

2H - Int, Spirit
Bracer - Int, Stam
Chest - Mana, Life, Mana regen, stats
Gloves - Spell Damage
Cloak - Resistance
Boots - Stam

I may have spirit for bracers now too, I'd have to look later. Not much useful for cloak for us, the rest is like agility or single resistance. I *almost want to say I have spell damage for bracer too, but I also recall Nick asking for it recently and I didn't have it yet. I picked up a few new ones recently, don't remember exactly which though. I'm fairly sure I can enchant just about anything with agility. :D Useless for us, I know.

I can take a look when servers are back up and list them here for you.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

I may be hiring you and or Kiba soon enoough for some escort duty, involving a run into to Tabetha's shack in Dustwallow, followed by a trip to Mirage flats then back and into SM and back for a chain of quests that ends up in a nifty ice wand. All starts at level 30.

I think I did that quest, except I got the fire wand. Unless I'm thinking of something else. Does your trip involve a stop at a cave in Thousand Needles?

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Not quite.

It starts at the Mage Trainer at 30, go to Dustwallow, then you get 2 more quests, one sends you to Arathi Highlands to obtain a charged bramble. Other quest sends you after a book, it takes you through 1K Needles to Mirage Flats (grab Tanaris FP while there) then into SM to actually get the book. By then there's another quest for you in SM so you do them both at the same time, then Back to Tabitha for the wand.

You might have done it, Fire Wand is one of the rewards, Arcane and Ice are the other two. Each one is +9 to spell damage, and at that level range it's the best there is.

Oh! That's right, I did do that one on my mage not too long ago. I actually did get the Ice wand, as she is frost spec. Quest was low level for her by then, but the wand still beat what she had. :azn:

The quest chain I was thinking about also takes you through SM, and has a nice fire wand as a reward.

Edit: Or maybe it wasn't SM; I just did the quest chain for the dungeon quest. I like to have as many of the quests in my log before going through an instance, mostly to minimize time spent in them.

Re: Red Alert! (Spring/Summer OT Thread)

Fo The Horde, there's a quest in SM that gets you The Sword of Omen. Thundercats anyone? I try to do the same thing with quests. I might have to run SM Graveyard a few times ...there's a nice cloth helm that drops off a rare spawn in there.

Once I get my druid going I'll be able to help out a bit more later on.

"Useful" enchants:
Chest - Life, Mana, Spirit, Restore mana, damage absorb
Boot - Stam
Bracer - Stam, Spirit, Int, Health, Restore mana, Stats
Glove - +10 spell crit, or I could give ya mount speed. :D
Cloak - Resistance, spell penetration
2H Weapon - Spirit, Int

Some of those require level 35+ item though. Looks like it was bracer enchants I got recently.
