I did read a short bit on how important rugs were in Victorian country houses so maybe you were right. Although the article limited itself to how it prevented the cold when you first got up in the morning out of bed, having something warm to stand on.
It didn't mention Victorians getting cold feet as Noodle nicked their rugs through time to cut out bad things from the past.
