The Noodle Compound V. 2.0

Re: The Noodle Compound

Right you have no idea how this works. They magically make things happen when you add them to it.
:D
Crossing them off is for when you get the right result.
Your on my List!

No no no no no no no no no no. Lists make everything worse. They take a task and double it. Then you have to worry about the list AND the task. Then you lose the list. Then you forget to cross something off so you have no idea if you did it or not. OR, my personal favorite, you are ABOUT to do something, cross it off, get distracted, it doesn't get done but it's still crossed off and the universe no longer makes any kind of sense!!!

Re: The Noodle Compound

What type of books do you read?

If you're into fantasy, may I suggest The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss? I'm reading book two atm, and it is simply amazing! :) Mind you book three haven't been released yet, so you may have to wait for that. >_>

I will definitely take that under advisement! Thanks! I'm always looking for new books. Completely have given up on Game of Thrones. Too simple and straightforward. I like a book with a bit of breadth and depth!

Re: The Noodle Compound

That makes much Moar sense, thanks!

I saw this. You will pay for it. In due time.

The books were great!!! The TV series not so much. Gave up on that after half of first season.

Lists are fun. Especially moving lists and packing lists.
Figures.

I seldomly do lists. I think I would forget more with lists as without. You need to remember to put everything on the list. Once you have the list you will think it's complete and not think you might have forgotten anything. So basically you spent an hour or two writing a list and will still have forgotten something. Stupid if you ask me.

Just take shopping lists. You go through the store picking what's on it and head out. Once home and unpacking you notice that you forgot writing about 10 things on it last night because you were tired. I rather spend 10 mins staring into the air at the store before the checkout, taking stock of the shopping cart and comparing it to what I actually need. Then go and find 9 of the 10 things I am missing. And then send hubby to get the last thing if I really needed it.

Are cuddles acceptable here?

Another problem - although maybe from my sorted mind point of view - is that Game of Thrones is an unfinished series.

My ex met George Martin a number of years ago and he's not going to finish the series any time soon and it will be many, many volumes more to come.

I've this thing that I never read series that are not finished yet, unless you can be certain they will be finished soon (which was the case with Harry Potter).

Breadth and depth - have you tried Tad Williams, that series with the Dragonbone Chair? I read it when I was young and still had more time to read, I remember it was good.
Not sure I'd like it nowadays. I'm a slow reader and just read gentle stuff to ease my mind.
Or Pratchett, which sharpens my mind.

Lists are fun. My nickname combined with my real first name is List....

I always make lists. I am always organizing things. When I put things in order, other things in my head get in line and order too. And I am able to do my work quicker and more efficient if I first make lists.

Game of Thrones too simple? I found it quite enjoyable tbh. Then again I've only read the first and second book so far, so I dunno if it changes. We'll see once I get around to reading the other books.

Speaking of Pratchett, Vivi. I think you might enjoy Patrick Rothfuss. It's not as... whimsical (?) as Pratchett seems capable of, but there is still some humor in it, and he paints a very good picture. Although the book seems to be compared more often with LOTR and Game of Thrones than anything else.

Re: The Noodle Compound

Sorry, I was being very sarcastic about Game of Thrones. I read 2 books and found it ridiculously complicated and long winded. Plus it made me interested in the Wars of the Roses - I found the Yorks and Lancasters more interesting than the Starks and Lannisters.

If I had to choose which one of the characters I wanted to be, I would choose Arya Stark. Winter is coming. (And already there for you. ;) )

I might, but I don't have much time to read - I'm a slow reader and am in a series that will take me at least another half a year....

Besides Patrick Rothfuss may not be translated into Dutch, or not available in my local library which given my poor English and being poor in general would be compulsary.

What if I pay with a strawberry daiquiri and a cuddle?

(actually it was an auto correct, I saw it before I posted, but opted to leave it in XD!)

/cuddles!

Ahh I see. I'm just so used to just reading everything in English, I don't even take translated versions into account. I can't stand trying to read a book in Norwegian, unless it was originally written in Norwegian. And fair point on being too busy, I definitely know how that's like.

Re: The Noodle Compound

I'd rather read a book in english if it was originally written in english, there are few really good dutch books / writers.
I'm enjoying Laurell Kay Hamilton for the moment.
Favourite book of all times is the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

My favourite characters are / were Arya, Tyrion, Jamie and Jon (mostly because he has the same name as me :p).

I agree on the "not going to finish anytime soon" I started reading the series 10 years a go and waited 6 years for dance with dragons ....

Re: The Noodle Compound

Wait, since I'm not crossed off, does that mean I'm still broken?

It means your not done yet.
:D
It just means you're not finished BBQ-ing yet, need to be a crispy brown:fire:

Damn it takes a long time to BBQ a Penguin !

The bottom half is glowing red in the coals but I think it's time to flip him.
