The epic classical music thread

Latin. The language of perfection.

The greatest funeral march ever. Humble and epic at the same time.

Everybody knows the Ride of the Valkyries, but I think the prelude of the Valkyrie part of the Ring operas is more epic:

1:25+ is totally gorgeous!

The female voice: Diane Damrau, O zittre nicht (Oh don't tremble)

Starting at 3:49. 4:20+ is incredible and when she throws her arms into the air at 4:38 and the perfect notes at 4:48, amazing. What acting, what a voice! Gorgeous!

Auf ewig dein!

OK, enough of that, back to serious topics. The 9th.

Ed Harris is BEETHOVEN. Ignore the chick.

"Who's this, George Washington?" Sorry to say, but Beethoven is the greater celebrity. Music for the ages! Although I admire GW.

Played by Widor HIMSELF:

Edit: BTW, my mother told me that this was my father's (may he rest in piece) favourite piece of organ music which put it into a special place of my heart.

Time to check if Youtube shorts are working in here:

Edit: Yup.

A few hours ago, my most beloved mother has died, following my father into the grave.

Thanks, Beethoven and Chopin for having made me cry.

Forget about what I wrote about great conductors.

Apparently, children can do it.

Toddler hearing the Moonlight Sonata:

Nothing is greater than the passion of a child. Music, we are born with it. It warms my heart!

My favourite piece of "classical music" computer game music:

When winning with the Greek, Macedons or Egyptians, this music is my reward!

Brothers Lionheart, the movie, from the 70s.

Death. Grief. A topic for children as well. What a beautiful and grand melody!

I've rediscovered this piece perhaps 45 years after I heard it first as a child and I noticed again that it has found a special place in my heart.

I'm using this thread as a collection of classical music worth hearing, so why not?

Next thread: My current shopping list. I'm running short on risotto rice...

I've had an unusually busy year IRL so I suck at giving feedback (or just posting in general) but I do listen to what you're sharing, Krischy. I love classical music.
