[Game Thread] HBO Rome Mafia Game

So I guess I can get the ball rolling.. we need to vote on someone. What are peoples thoughts? Vote for themselves?

Gorny you voted for youself already, do you have a reasoning that you want to share? Maybe convince your fellow players to vote for you?

My opinion is that I'm not 100% opposed for voting Gorny, but I am not sure of him yet. I would of course also like to be voted again, but I find that unlikely.
How would you know if you don't even try to petition? What, you dropped the ball and you don't feel like picking it up?

Worst Dr Seuss book ever.

Would you like some mustard eggs and grape jelly? Coju wants them in his belly!
Can't stand the idea at all? Don't worry Leo will eat it all!
Zhao wants to vote for the Plebian, don't worry soon he'll be charged with treason!

  • Haha
Reactions: D2DC
Vote: Skjolde

Go get 'em tiger.
Thank you for you confidence, but this is not going to work.
We had very little faction talk which I happily admit is hard to do without revealing.
I think a vote on coju is just wrong. No one has a read on him. Unless you feel like acting this is D1, I have a hard time understanding why people couldn't make a more informed decision than a blind vote.
But as always, this doesn't take into account of they have information the other players don't.

I'm leaning Gorny, but it is not certain.

Can you tell me a bit about your thoughts of the game so far @coju?

Two thing to point out for my next available thinking session:
- either there has been a vote, Skjolde participated, and his vote could have led to this situation (e.g. for or against war: against. Then troops are not ready when Caesar arrives, and loyal Romans have to get away).
- or there has been a stealing action, that put Caesar into rage & fury, making him invading the city (not enough time to build things now, I'm really late, but you get the idea probably)
- obviously anything else, but...then that could be a lot of things.

In the end, the only real thing that I see here, is that some are Romans, some are Caesar's (the scummy faction?), and maybe the Eagle holder could have an additional wincon?

See you all later!

I think that is pretty spot on. Knowing the tv show it's basically focused on the caesar era and his demise. And since the man didn't die of old age, it is clear that we have atleast 2 factions, for and against caesar.

What I really want to know with that standard is the quiz by d2dc that started it.. was it a trigger by someone deliberately starting it or something we said in the thread or what?

I still haven’t seen the show, but reading some script summaries I assume two factions (JC and Pompey?) with a few peeps whose wincons could go either way. EG I assume Pullo needs to survive and sleep with as many people as possible, and Mark Anthony could win with either faction depending on choices.

Per the Eagle quiz, my read is that @Skjolde won it. Anyone else have theories to correct me? the Eagle probably gives you some sort of one shot survival thing, or extra push to your faction. (In the show, Pullo is on death row, recovers the Eagle from Pompey’s people, doesn’t get murdered. Sweet deal?) @D2DC clearly said ‘reward’, so I doubt winning a silly quiz would trump voting power?

Per voting, if we again look at the show:

JC to his peeps “Pompey and the Senate have formally declared that Gaius Julius Caesar is an enemy of Rome. They have declared that I am a criminal. They have declared, in effect, that all of you *also* are criminals. Tribune's veto was not exercised. People's tribune Mark Antony and 50 men of the 13th were assaulted by 1000 head of Pompeian scum”🏛️

So I accuse @Skjolde of being A Ponpeiian who believes Gorny is Pompeii, and is supported by @Zhao_Yue

And me? A harmless Roman who believes Pompey’s faction will start a civil war which would be bad for business.

All that before I’ve had my morning coffee! Let’s go!

I actually like your analysis. Lots of good stuff in there.

  • I won the quiz
  • I will NOT reveal what I won. That remains to (maybe) be seen.
  • I will not reveal my feelings towards Caesar, but I will say that I am far from having the status of that of a Senator.
  • I do indeed have an idea who Gorny is, but I do not believe him to be Pompey
