The Noodle Compound V. 2.0

Re: The Noodle Compound

What's the point of an acronym if you have to explain it?

Absolutely right, kegs! You're on a roll this year, aren't you? That's what, now? Once so far? Well done!
Moving my **** around. Found my prom dress. I am LOVING that I can still fit into it. ^_^ :balloons:

I love that too, but I'm going to need firm evidence of this. Firm evidence. Firm, pert evidence

Re: The Noodle Compound

It was a schoolfriend who got me onto Pratchett, no colleagues ever read Pratchett. They should though.

And no, I'm still a clutch. I still can't install anything let alone games. With this new version of Word I can't even make Word do what I want anymore. Same with internetbrowsers.
Software more and more does the thinking for you, whilst I like things plain and add my own ideas of how documents should look etc. If anything it's all getting more complicated, today being a particularly depressing day on this subject and I feel pretty useless right now.

No, I'm no use for IT. I'd be an assett to the administration though.

Aye more co-workers need to read Terry Pratchet! :D

That's exactly the kind of mindset you have to throw away. I mean just think about it, if your work tries to put you in with IT, even on librarian type of things, it'll give you a chance through work to spend more time learning it. And you'll have (hopefully) awesome people to assist you. That alone makes it so you have a far better chance of learning this stuff too. Also don't be upset if you can't do a lot of the things Word or Excel is capable of, I can't even do it without googling. And then some of the most advanced stuff just leaves me scratching my head... mostly because I can't be arsed reading up on something I or anyone else ever use. >_> But still if what you fear comes to pass, try your best to go at it with a positive mindset, and a willingness to learn, it makes such a huge difference. I've got faith in you Vivi!

Did you know every single acrynom that has ever been presented to you?

*waves at Leo

Pics or it didn't happen?

I should go check out the university library. They just completely remodeled the entire building and renamed as an Academic Commons.

*blushes* thank you, that is very kind!
A friend of mine would say that the things I find difficult are "all really simple" and if you don't get it straight away as he often does, he "just googles a solution". Aye, good on him. All my googling attempts of solving difficulties end up with me not understanding the explanations, making me feel even more useless....so that's not helpful.
What I need and what does help is people bothering to teach me, sitting beside me for a while so when odd screens appear I can ask 'm "do I click Run or Save?" and things like that.

Gotta start somewhere!

Did you know every single acrynom that has ever been presented to you?
no, but if you have to explain it you might as well just say the full version and save yourself the characters.

What I know of Colorado is that it has a town called Nederland which is the country I'm from.

See, it was meant to be!

Re: The Noodle Compound

Any Formal type I would think?

i'm often in the same situation as your friend, where i find something to be reallyt simple, but other may not. i've always caught myself saying " just google it" but it's because saying that seems like such an easy trhing for me. Anyhow like you say it's nice to have someone who teaches you which button to press when. but that is kind of limited imo, as you may learn hwen to press run or save with 1 prorgam, but not with another one. a better way (imo) is to learn what the difference between clicking run or save is, and which benefits each has over the other. that will help you to make a deicision on not only 1 program, but most other programs as well when it comes to that question. :)

With that mindset, there woudlnt't exist any acronums! :p

Re: The Noodle Compound

I've been to Solvang a handful of times. A bit surreal, but fun.

I remember the drama too. But things are looking up. I'm the last library assistent. The unpleasant colleagues, and the useless colleagues, have gone. Even our redundant manager has been told to leave. We're just 3 people now, very different but compatible, we get on and compliment each other and all have the same working attitude.

You have me puzzled. What you wrote is about Denmark, Danish and the Danish language - Denmark being a country just north of Germany, and it's a Scandinavian country. The Netherlands, where they speak Dutch, is west of Germany.

Nah, there's no limits to that. Having someone with me saves me some of the panic. Most of my coaching's come from my ex bf, who diagnozed my jinx with pc's. I was to make MP3's of my cd's. He showed me exactly how to do it. And where the MP3's could be found afterwards. I made notes. He was sitting next to me. I did exactly the same things as he did. He confirmed, he saw what I did.
I went to the folder where the MP3's should have landed. Nothing there. I tried again, same procedure. Nothing there.
Bf did exactly the same thing - there they are.
I'm jinxed.
This is just one example of the many things that keep happening that do not do anything for my selfconfidence!

And then my colleagues phone me asking things like "oh but I bet you know how to do that" No I don't! Phone the IT department, where I'll be Macavity!

Re: The Noodle Compound

Stuff like that happens Vivi! I've experienced it myself as well, doesn't mean that you're jinxed. :)

Re: The Noodle Compound

There should be a law against being this sore and tired. But hey last night was awesome. :jig:

Re: The Noodle Compound

Alcohol was consumed, but it's more related to trying archery, axe throwing, sumo wrestling, tug of war (with rope), paintball and a couple other activities. >_>

Re: The Noodle Compound

Sounds like a very fun time! Any of those activities alone could cause you to be pretty sore.

I swear, some folks have more energy in their entire bodies than I have in my little finger.
