Valve has announced Steam Deck today for portable gaming. It's based on SteamOS and should be able to handle anything in your Steam Library on a 7 inch screen (16 by 10 with 1280x800 resolution).

Looks pretty good but it's quite pricey at £349 even for the entry-level model. The good news it will work with both Steam and the Epic Games store. It will start shipping in December with pre-orders being taken now.

Apparently, this is the process to get it working.
  • Hold the power button and select switch to desktop (or press steam and power and switch to desktop)
  • On the desktop select the Steam app
  • In the steam app select add a non steam game
  • Select browse, and change the file type to all files
  • Navigate to where you downloaded the exe
  • Select the exe
  • In steam right click the battle.net app you added and select properties
  • Navigate to the compatibility tab
  • Check the force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool
  • Leave proton experimental selected
  • Start the app and install
  • In the battle.net app select Diablo 2 and install
  • Play game (note, you may get a loading screen that does nothing, just click around until it continues)

@Rush, thanks for the how-to. :) I don't have a steamdeck now, but I'm considering it. If I do get one, I'll post my D2R success/failure here.

Would be interesting to see how you get on when you do get one. I have thought about it but I just don't move about enough at the moment to warrant the expense of it. Plus, I am always wary of new Valve devices when they first come out.
