The latest Assassin's Creed has recently been revealed as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Ubisoft dropped a trailer. Gamers have criticised Ubisoft for the lack of gameplay in the trailer but are gamers expecting too much? In this modern age of gaming, gamers have become spoilt when it comes to game reveals. There was once a time when a few screenshots would have sufficed. Not any more.

On the back of the Assassin's Creed trailer, Ubisoft has come out and apologised to the community for the footage that has been revealed.

This caught the attention of Rebellion's marketing guru Robbie Cooke who explained why this happens. Simply put, unfinished games do not make for good trailers. Budget and time to develop vertical slices also have to be considered. Check hits Twitter thread below.

While there is a desire to hype a game on reveal, marketing has to be stretched out over a long period. No point going all-in right at reveal or gamers will lose interest and forget about it in the glut of releases. Sometimes less is more but what is the right balance when a game is revealed?
